Surrender to What?

Surrender to what?
Palidrome day, taxes, being financially and fiscally responsible? As I sit here, I am wondering how is it that one may make it in a world that seems to be out to take it all and make it hard to do anything at all?
Read, meditate more, sit and “be” yet try to “do” it all, do it alone, coexist with others, interdependent but not codependent, write, paint, walk, exercise, travel, the advice is endless right?
Try harder, stop trying, allow, sit/stand... it seems everywhere I turn the advice on how to find the content and calm way is confusing.
I keep hearing “surrender” and wondering to myself what is it that I am not surrendering to? Is it the idea that whatever comes up I will be accepting, I will be assertive to get my needs met?
Surrender to the moment, live in the here and now. The present is a gift. The sayings go on and on, but the question remains how does one actually do this?
I tend to fall on the side of the belief that it is not indeed something we need to “do” per se, yet something we need to train to “be”. It can be traced back to one of my current favorite sayings that we are human “be”ings, not human “do”ings.
Somehow, we forget to stop “doing” all the time, and that the answer could lie in “being”. Perhaps it is surrendering to just “being”.
